Last night, Ms. Ashley Dureau was announced as the outstanding student in Biology for the academic year 2007-2008. The department selected Ashley based on her excellent academic record and for her service to the department. Congratulations.

A Beginning

April 4, 2008

This is Dr. Ellis. Today, I start the spotlight on science. I will be making periodic announcements about what is happening in the sciences (Biology, Pre-Med, Pre-Dent, Pre-Pharm, Pre-Vet, Pre-Physical Therapy). The first announcement I have to make is that there will be a meeting for all science majors on April 17th in the Moreau Center at Noon. Light snacks will be availible. I plan on presenting some catalog changes that will appear in the upcoming catalog, I also want to talk about the sequencing of course offerings in science, I will talk about the new facilities that will be used for Biology courses starting next Fall, and I am looking for student imput about the future of the department. Specifically, I am considering listing and offering  more 400 level courses - is there a specific course you would like to see offered at OLHCC? We are considering starting an honors program in Biology - What are you thoughts on this idea? I also have ideas about what should be happening at OLHCC for the pre-professional majors, but I would like to hear about what students want and maybe even expect. Bottom line - show up, find out about the direction of the program, and contribute to the process.
